Landscape strategy

The approach creates green links and corridors that blend the built environment with nature, promoting recreation, biodiversity, and visual amenity.
Public open space and play
Public open space will be created around the protected oak tree, preserving them as a central feature. The existing trees will be connected to the on-site woodland via green corridors. The site’s broadleaved woodland will be improved to provide community spaces and play areas, encouraging interaction with nature.
The lowland mixed deciduous woodland will be preserved and integrated into the broader green infrastructure.
Urban wildlife strategy
Cala’s Urban Wildlife Strategy establishes a biodiversity standard for new homes, developed in collaboration with local wildlife groups. The strategy ensures homes feature bird nesting, hedgehog-friendly fencing, bat roosting tiles, and native tree planting, enriching the urban environment for wildlife.
